Being healthy is not just about the physical aspects like eating better and getting exercise, it is about all aspects of your
health including physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.!
There are many different aspects to a persons health, the physical part is the one that we most talk about and this can
include getting exercise in some form whether it's going for a walk, a swim or doing yoga. It can also include eating healthily,
ever notice when you eat a balanced diet and nurture the body from the inside out, the outside physical body responds very
well to this and creates more energy and an interest in doing things outside of work and household chores.
Emotions can often take over mind and body and this is a very important part of living that should be acknowledged. When
emotions are at their most powerful they can take over and thoughts may become a little less rational. The physical body
can also take offense to the overwhelming emotions. Physically the body can end up in a stressed state where muscles
are tense, circulation becomes sluggish and aches and pains appear in the joints.
What can help with emotional turmoil? Acknowledging that your emotions do exist and are unsettled at this point is a great
place to start. Looking at what is creating this emotional state and something as simple as going for a walk or writing things
down can often provide more clarity on your emotions and the aspect that is affecting your emotions. There is a saying "Calm
Mind, Calm Body" Mental and emotional anguish can cause a lot of stress to the body, counseling is a really good option to
talk things through, and it's not always about dredging up everything from a person's past, it can deal with present
issues/concerns that a person is living with.
Spirituality means many different things to many different people and is unique to everyone. Spirituality can be about seeking a meaningful connection with something bigger than yourself, and each other, which can result in positive emotions, such as
peace, awe, contentment, gratitude, and acceptance.

Colour has been used to heal as far back as the Egyptian times, when people would sit in different
areas of a room which was carefully constructed so that the sun's rays were broken up into seven
colours of the spectrum or as we call it now, "A Rainbow". Depending on what healing a
person needed they would sit under that colour light in the room.
Wearing colours, or looking at colours can have a powerfully effect on your emotions and your
physical being. Taking a look at the following chart we can see how each colour of the rainbow
corresponds to each Chakra. We often hear of Chakras but may not be sure on location, this chart
gives a good indication of each location. So in the case of poor digestion or feelings of sluggishness
both orange and yellow are really good colours to wear. And if wearing a full outfit in Yellow isn't
your thing, then wearing yellow socks, yellow underwear or a yellow scarf may be just the thing to
lift your mood and aid your digestion.
" Restoring Natural Balance & Harmony through your feet. "
Reflexology is a holistic therapy that treats the feet in order to balance the whole body.
The body is split into 10 Zones/Energy Lines, with 5 zones on each side running from your thumb
right down to your big toe. Each zone similar to Meridian lines run right down through the body and
so each foot has 5 zones on which all the internal organs are mapped on. By applying pressure to
parts of the feet known as reflex areas, corresponding and connected areas of the body on the zone
will feel the benefits, any blockages will be encouraged to release.
Massaging and touching the feet is an ancient practice that dates back to 2330BC in Egypt where
images in the Tomb of Ankhamahor depicted massaging and manipulation of the feet. This tomb
was discovered in 1897 and from then Reflexology was developed and is considered a method of
maintaining physical, mental & spiritual balance. Reflexology was brought to England in 1966 from
America and from there has spread throughout Europe.
Reflexology encourages both relaxation and stimulation of the body and so helps the body rebuild
its energy resources and recover from illnesses and also helps to activate the circulation and the
nervous system making both more efficient.
Benefits of a Reflexology:
> Relieves Stress and tension and creates a deeply relaxed state in the body. It is estimated that
75% of disease is estimated to be stress related.
> It improves the blood circulation and warms up cold feet.
> Balances hormones by working on the Adrenal glands which in times of high stress can become
> Improves the lymphatic system and thus the process of elimination is improved
> Helps to release trapped nervous energy, approximately 7000 nerves are stimulated by reflexology.
If you like your feet being touched then reflexology is for you, it can induce a deep state of relaxation
within mind, body & soul to encourage the bodies natural ability to heal by releasing any energy
blockages through the use of thumb pressure over the sole of the foot. There are times when foot
reflexology is not recommended such as if you have a broken foot, fungal infections, verrucas and
undiagnosed medical condition or during the first trimester of pregnancy. If you have a query and
are unsure if it is safe for you to have reflexology please do get in touch.
A Reflexology session takes an hour to do and is 40euro, it is safe to use in conjunction with
massage therapy and I do offer combination packages such as a Back massage with Reflexology for
1hr 15mins for 50euro. For more packages check out my website www.joyceosullivan.com.
